A dead night
Wandering out in nowhere
The tall buildings around me
Make my aspirations feel small
The sparse but blistering lights
like false stars made in apology
make me forget my name
There are forests so far away
And the images of clarity
Linger within me
There are lakes so far away
Temples and mountains
That I see in the transient moments
When I close my eyes
When my mind wanders off
And when my spirit whisks away on its own
Before the blistering lamps snatch it away
The ocean washing away a glittering shell
